Key Attributes

Listed below are the key attributes to look for in a player being used in each of the available roles and duties. The Tactics section of this guide looks at selecting roles and duties in more detail. These key attributes are largely identical to those given in the game, which can be viewed on the Player section of your squad's Tactics tab as well as on the Attributes section of any player's Overview tab by using the highlight key attributes for role drop-down menu. However, you should also consider the importance of other attributes, such as those appropriate for your team instructions, any modified individual player instructions and those required for common actions as explained in the attribute combinations guide.

  • Aerial Ability, Command of Area, Communication, Handling, One on Ones, Reflexes, Bravery, Composure, Concentration, Decisions, Positioning and Agility.

You would want high ratings in attributes such as First Touch, Anticipation, Creativity, Decisions, Off the Ball and Teamwork, so mainly mental attributes. But the actual key attributes for a specific player would also depend on his role in the tactic.

However, you probably won't be able to play an effective tiki-taka or total football style at that level as your players won't have high enough mental and technical ability to play through the opposition this way. I think you would be better off trying to exploit the physical attributes of some of your attacking players, such as a pacy striker or wingers, or a tall and strong target man.

You could still try to adopt a tiki-taka style tactic if you want, but I think such a tactic is more suitable for much higher quality teams.

What you recommend for key attributes for looking in players to play attacking/control short passing possession football (Spanish tiki-taka football style/Dutch total football style) tactics, specially if I'm playing at the low end of English football (English lower league clubs) ie Blue Square Bet North/South divisions or lower!.
